Teledyne Makes A Name In Instrumentation

Angel Luke, Rick Dey, and Mike Metcalf of Teledyne join Water Online Radio to discuss water-quality instrumentation and the power of the Teledyne brand.

The following is an excerpt from the Q&A. Click on the Radio Player above to hear the full interview.

Water Online Radio: Tell us a little bit about Teledyne Water Quality Group.

Mike: Teledyne Water Quality is an amalgamation of companies within the Teledyne Instrumentation segment. The point of having a Teledyne Water Quality strategic platform is to have these companies work in concert with each other to bring solutions to the water quality market and the water market in general.

We are backed up by the greater Teledyne, and that we have access to some of the research and development facilities. We have Teledyne Scientific – 120 PhDs and 300 engineers – that do a lot of engineering solutions for government projects, a lot of raw research and such.

We found that by coming to the market as a unit, it gives us much more breadth. We can come up with better solutions for the customer, and one of the things that we pride ourselves on is new technology and new ideas.

Water Online Radio: Angel, we have been hearing about this 5800 sampler. Tell us exactly what that is.

Angel: Well, the 5800 sampler is a refrigerated sampler that was specifically designed for wastewater treatment plant monitoring. So it can be used for permanent monitoring at the influent or the effluent of the wastewater treatment plant, but also can be used in the plant to check to make sure that all the processes throughout the plant are working efficiently.
