Special Events Held Across North America To Commemorate Drinking Water Week

Denver – As Drinking Water Week continues, the American Water Works Association and water professionals across North America are celebrating with special events focused on helping consumers to get to know and value their water supply and their local water utility.

To commemorate this week, water utilities, state agencies, environmental advocates and other interested groups are celebrating drinking water through school events, staff events, public presentations and community festivals.

“We can show our appreciation for our drinking water by celebrating Drinking Water Week,” said AWWA Chief Executive Officer David LaFrance. “This is a great time to convey the important message of the week in a fun and festive atmosphere to a variety of audiences – the public, children, staff members and the community in general.”

AWWA will join in the festivities this week by hosting several special events at its headquarters in Denver and raising funds for the Association’s Student & Young Professional Programs. All of the events during Drinking Water Week will center on assisting employees in understanding drinking water and its value in our daily lives.
