Exposure to arsenic can cause health effects including skin damage, circulatory and nervous system problems, and increased risk of cancer. Water treatment plants are well-versed in removing it.

The Schwenksville Borough Authority (SBA) water treatment plant was looking for an economic solution and a product with a longer life expectancy. SBA turned to De Nora's SORB 33A media to replace its exhausted Bayoxide media. Since operation began, testing shows post-treatment levels of arsenic that are significantly and consistently below the EPA required MCL of 10 ug/L.
