How New Technology Lowers The Cost Of Ownership For Remote Sites

Source: Eaton

Whether a utility operates a couple of pumping stations or a couple hundred, driving out to those locations for monitoring and maintenance is labor-intensive and costly.

Fortunately, technologies are emerging to allow remote data collection. Centered around IoT, short for the Internet of Things, water managers can now gather and analyze data about their pumps and sensors from mobile applications. Not only does this avoid sending crews to take routine readings, it prevents unnecessary maintenance runs.

Nicole George, a product manager for pumping variable frequency drives at Eaton, talks about the growing adoption of IoT and remote monitoring in this Water Talk interview at WEFTEC 2019.
