FMC Corporation To Showcase VigorOx WWT II At WEFTEC In October

The alternative USEPA-approved wastewater disinfection technology has been successfully applied in a variety of effluents across the country

FMC Corporation announced recently that it will participate in the 86th Annual Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) in Chicago from October 5 to 9. FMC’s booth will showcase VigorOx WWT II wastewater disinfection technology, a complete disinfection process solution built around the company’s 15% peracetic acid (PAA) formulation, which is USEPA-approved for the disinfection of wastewater effluent streams and has been deployed at wastewater treatment plants across the country both for full scale trials and as primary disinfectant on permit.

“We’re eager to attend WEFTEC and share the results from recent VigorOx full-scale operating experiences and trials with our peers,” said Dr. Kwok-Keung ‘Amos’ Au, technology applications manager for Water Treatment. “VigorOx technology is a safe, cost effective, environmentally-friendly alternative to chlorination/dechlorination and other disinfection technologies that will have substantial benefits as industries and municipalities continue to look for better ways to meet water treatment needs.”

Formulated as an equilibrium solution, peracetic acid is a versatile oxidizing agent used in chemical synthesis, bleaching and registered for use as a sanitizer, disinfectant and sterilant by USEPA. In full-scale applications, it has demonstrated microbial inactivation equal to or better than existing technologies while meeting strict disinfection byproduct limits and aquatic toxicity requirements at a lower cost.

“WEFTEC is an excellent opportunity for FMC to share advances in our innovative process technology that enables disinfection compliance at lower life-cycle cost,” said Alberto Garibi, director of business development for Water Treatment. “We are excited to see the positive response we are getting from plant operators, consulting engineering firms and state regulators as we produce consistent disinfection performance data from trials in a variety of effluent qualities. We believe that our comprehensive disinfection process approach will resonate with many plants that struggle with high operating costs and disinfection compliance.”

WEFTEC is the largest water quality exhibition in the world, offering over 27 workshops, 140 technical sessions, 1,000 presentations and posters, and hosting more than 17,000 attendees. WEFTEC brings together water quality professionals from around the world to showcase research, innovation and technology.

Alberto Garibi and Dr. Amos Au, along with other FMC technical experts, will be located at WEFTEC booth #4774 and available for interview.
