EMCOR Group, Inc. Awarded Electrical Construction Of Water Treatment Plant For Department Of Environmental Protection

NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE: EME), a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses, announced that its Welsbach Electric subsidiary has been awarded a contract to perform the electrical construction services for a new clean water treatment plant located in Westchester County, New York, for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection.

Welsbach Electric is responsible for the complete electrical installation associated with the construction of the project's two billion gallon-per-day ultraviolet (UV) light disinfection facility, a 170,000 square foot, two story concrete structure. Its lower level houses 56 of the largest UV units ever built, while the upper level contains electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment and administrative offices. Welsbach Electric will also be involved in providing electrical construction services for eight additional buildings and structures associated with the project.

When complete, this clean water treatment plant will be the world's largest UV facility for disinfecting drinking water. The water treatment plant will treat drinking water from New York City's Catskill and Delaware reservoir system, which accounts for approximately 90% of New York City's drinking water.
