Dow Microbial Control To Spotlight Latest Antimicrobial Innovation For Water Cooling Systems At AWT Annual Convention And Exposition

Dow Microbial Control Experts to Share Insights on How New KATHON 7 TL Solid Antimicrobial Can Help Facilitate Safer, More Convenient Biofilm Control

Dow Microbial Control (DMC), a business group of The Dow Chemical Company, will be showcasing its new, innovative solid form of KATHON Antimicrobial at the upcoming Association of Water Technologies(AWT) Annual Convention and Exposition September 9-12, 2015 in Nashville, Tennessee. DMC North American Customer Application Specialist for Water Treatment, Dr. Brian Corbin, will present Dow’s improved approach for biofilm control for small to medium water treatment systems during a presentation at the conference on September 10.

Recently approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, KATHON 7 TL Antimicrobial is the only solid product made with the active ingredients CMIT/MIT (Chloromethyl-methylisothiazolone) on the market. Formulated with 7 percent active ingredient, the solid form and the water soluble protective wrapper provide several advantages to water treatment professionals:

  • Easy dosing with a lower risk of exposure than poured liquid products
  • Tablets sized for small-to-medium cooling systems
  • Easier transportation than bulky liquids
  • Less space needed for storage
  • Convenient option for slug dosing due to fast dissolution

The easy-to-use tablets facilitate safer handling while reducing the potential for spills, splashes, leaks or drips compared to liquid products, and the concentrated tablet form also reduces service company transportation costs. The tablets are non-reactive with water treatment additives and have low corrosion potential. This new product provides Water Treatment professionals with a convenient new option for microbial control of smaller cooling systems, including systems which have not been treated to-date.

Dow Microbial Control, along with two other Dow businesses – Dow Water & Process Solutions and Dow Oil, Gas & Mining —will be at booth 722 to discuss how their wide-ranging products and technologies can be used to effectively combat some of the more pressing problems water treatment professionals face, including scaling, biofouling, contamination and corrosion.
