Case Study: Anaerobic Wastewater Treatment For The Dairy Industry
PT. Sari Husada Tbk, one of Indonesia's leading dairy industries is part of the Dutch Royal Numico, NV group. The company was originally established in 1954 as a cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the United Nations, Its offices are located in Yogyakarta, while the new factory is located in Klaten, Central Java – Indonesia. In the Klaten production facilities a range of baby formula and special nutrition products are produced and packed for the local Indonesian and export Asia market. This new factory produces wastewater with a high organic suspended solids and FOG (Fat, Oil & Grease) content. The wastewater treatment plant consists of a Dissolved Air Floation (DAF), which separatesthe FOG and solids from the wastewater, a combined Anaerobic (Biothane® UASB) Aerobic biological treatment and an anaerobic sludge digestion treatment (Biobulk® CSTR).
