Landa announces improvements to high-efficiency wastewater evaporator
The natural gas-fired HBG evaporator, which can be adapted for liquid propane, features a unique combustion chamber that delivers as much as 20% in energy savings over conventional designs. Using high-density refractory ceramic, the combustion box requires only 200,000 BTUH to evaporate up to 15 gallons per hour as compared to 225,000 - 250,000 BTUH in traditional systems.
Such savings can reduce operating costs to as low as 5-cents per gallon, depending upon local fuel costs.
Typical applications include minimizing a variety of wastewaters, from mop water and machine coolant-water solutions to spent parts washer wastewater, which often cost 50-cents or more per gallon to have hauled away.
Among the improvements to the two HBG models:
- Nema 4 Control box was added for increased waterproof protection of electrical components;
- Indicator lights were added for efficiency in troubleshooting;
- A liquid concentration control was added to prevent damage to the unit due to over-concentrating wastewater or sludge build up;
- An exhaust plenum box mixes steam and flue gases for nearly invisible emissions and prevents foam from entering combustion chamber;
- A new design of the baffles in the combustion chamber produces even greater energy efficiency and a more even heat transfer;
- The evaporation tank was enlarged from 55 to 70 gallons for greater evaporation capacity; and
- A thermowell was moved to the underside of the tank floor for easier removal of sludge and quicker response time to excessive temperatures.
