Alag

ALAG (ALuminous AGgregate) is a synthetic calcium aluminate aggregate manufactured by the fusion of bauxite and limestone into a partially re-crystallized aggregate of approximately 40% alumina. It is essentially Fondu clinker, crushed and sized into grades commonly needed by concrete and castable formulators

It is essentially Fondu clinker, crushed and sized into grades commonly needed by concrete and castable formulators.

ALAG is a high density, impermeable, black angular aggregate with exceptional hardness. ALAG has a strong chemical affinity for calcium aluminate cements and, therefore, ALAG concretes utilizing calcium aluminate cement as the binder provide outstanding performance in applications requiring resistance to:

Abrasion
Mechanical Shock
Mild Corrosion
Temperatures up to 2000°F
Thermal Cycling
ALAG is available in four particle size ranges:

2 x 3 (5 - 10 mm)
3 x 7 (1 - 7 mm)
7 x 14 (0.5 - 2.5 mm)
- 14 mesh (0 - 1.5 mm)

ALAG is typically packaged in either 100-pound bags or 3,000-pound supersacks. Bags are shrink-wrapped and should remain that way until use. ALAG (especially finer grades) must be stored in a weather-protected area (free from precipitation and high moisture). Shelf life of fine ALAG (-14 mesh) is 8-10 months. Coarser grades are less sensitive to aging and may have an indefinite shelf life. We recommend inspection after any long period of storage.
