Applied's family of water treatment products and services includes:
HiPOx - Applied's patented flagship product. HiPOx has a unique, versatile reactor design that enables it to be used as an ozone contactor, as an advanced oxidation technology(utilizing hydrogen peroxide and ozone), or alternating between these two modes. HiPOx can perform multiple treatment functions such as disinfection, taste/odor/color removal, and VOC or microcontaminant destruction.
HiPOx easily and cost effectively destroys a wide range of recalcitrant contaminants including the difficult-to-treat petroleum constituents MTBE and TBA, and the solvent stabilizer 1,4 dioxane, while also destroying accompanying contaminants such as BTEX, TCE, PCE, and many of their breakdown products.
Unlike conventional technologies, including air stripping and carbon adsorption which are largely ineffective in economically removing these contaminants from groundwater, HiPOx coverts contaminants to harmless constituents such as carbon dioxide and water. System sizes range from less than 3 gallons-per-minute (gpm) to several thousand gpm.
PulseOx - PulseOx takes the robust chemistry and precision of the HiPOx technology and delivers it straight to the acquifer. PulseOx is designed to inject oxidizing agents directly into a subsurface formation to treat groundwater and saturated soils in place. PulseOx significantly reduces the total time and costs of remediation.
Like HiPOx, PulseOx products are useful for remediation of petroleum compounds and a variety of organic solvents. PulseOx uses hydrogen peroxide and ozone as oxidizing agents and can also use pure oxygen and ambient air to enhance the oxidation of contaminants in both water and soil.
PulseOx products are available in several platforms that address a wide range of in-situ treatment scenarios from larger or more heavily impacted sites with permeable soils to smaller applications, hot spots or barrier treatment. In all instances, PulseOx is designed to expedite clean-up and site closure.
Membrane Bio-film Reactor (MBfR) - The MBfR is an exciting new technology developed at Northwestern University that is being commercialized by Applied. Applied is actively looking for opportunities to continue the advancement of this technology via laboratory and on-site tests and is interested in forming alliance relationships with other parties.
Conventional water treatment technologies for treating perchlorate or nitrate are expensive and generate secondary waste that must be disposed of. MBfR can be used in a reductive or oxidative mode. Applied is evaluating this technology principally for treating water resources impacted by perchlorate or nitrate.
Support Services - Applied is more than an equipment designer and manufacturer; we provide total water treatment solutions. Our qualified team can assist clients or their engineering consultants from the technology evaluation phase through the operation of installed systems.
Applied's technical resources and infrastructure enables us to conduct laboratory bench tests, field demonstrations, and pilot studies to ensure the right technical solution is selected. We also offer assistance in system installation, start-up, operator training, remote monitoring services, and various levels of routine operations and maintenance support tailored to meet our customers’ needs.
While most of our equipment can be purchased as a capital item, it is far more common for our clients to lease or rent our treatment units in conjunction with a service agreement. Applied also provides performance guarantees for many applications.
