The National Association Of Water Companies Celebrates Earth Day Texas

Washington, D.C. — This weekend the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) will celebrate the 44th anniversary of Earth Day. Since it began in 1970, Earth Day (April 22) has evolved to a day of action and week-long celebrations with more than a billion participants around the world.

NAWC will sponsor one of the largest Earth Day celebrations in the United States, Earth Day Texas, at the historic Fair Park in Dallas. Founded by Earth Day Texas, Inc. (EDTx) in 2010, the now annual, outdoor festival aims to encourage residents to live a more sustainable lifestyle and raise awareness of how these lifestyle choices can benefit the environment, improve health and lower cost of living.

“As the association representing private water service providers, we’re excited to sponsor Earth Day Texas as a platform to help bring much-needed attention to the critical water issues our nation faces, especially in Texas,” said Michael Deane, executive director of the National Association of Water Companies. “No individual, family, or business can thrive without access to safe, reliable water service — yet, many are unaware that our nation’s aging infrastructure puts this at risk. Private sector investment in water is an essential part of the solution.”

The free event seeks to elevate environmental awareness and influence the way Texans think, live and work. On April 26, Michael Deane will join the ‘Water Infrastructure Panel’ discussion at 12 p.m. along with other experts from the industry, including Ben Grumbles of the U.S. Water Alliance, Ken Kirk of the National Association of Clean Water Agencies, and Kevin Ward of the Trinity River Authority.

In addition to engaging with these experts on environmental issues, attendees will have the opportunity to explore hundreds of hands-on exhibits (including an NAWC display) at the EDTx Eco Expo. Please visit http://earthdaytx.org/ for more details on Earth Day Texas 2014.
