Radial Deionization—A 'Game Changer' For Water Recovery

Atlantis Technologies has developed a new desalination device, and it might just be a game changer.

The Radial Deionizing super capacitor technology platform (RDI), offers a way to recover more water in the oil and gas, power generation, and food and beverage industries.

The technology reduces the water footprint needed by treating the reverse osmosis (RO) reject, says Bob Newton of Atlantis Technologies in a recent interview with Water Online Radio.

“We primarily pass complex water stream that has high total dissolved solids,” he says. “It is much more cost effective than adding a second stage RO.”

This technology is attracting attention in places where water scarcity is a growing problem. 

“We’re getting a lot of pull in California now because we can treat that produced water, desalinate it, and then being able to utilize that water for irrigation purposes.”
