Ovivo At WEFTEC: A Lot To Digest

Source: Ovivo

Even before the tradeshow floor opened at the 2012 Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC), Ovivo was catering to its customers in impressive style. The water and wastewater treatment experts showed they also know how to throw a party, delivering food, drink, music, and some friendly, no-stakes gambling to a grateful gathering at a secret "speakeasy," a.k.a. The Foundry restaurant in New Orleans.

Ovivo continued to impress at the exhibition the following morning, hosting within its booth a series of “open mic” presentations on wastewater treatment. First and foremost was the introduction of the Digestivore sidestream system, which employs membrane thickening of waste activated sludge to biologically treat high-ammonia sidestreams created by anaerobic digestion. Essentially, it combines two processes — membrane thickening and sidestream treatment — into one system.

According to Ovivo’s Kevin Crane, who delivered the presentation, this approach provides savings on polymer, methanol, odor control, and electricity, while also improving plant operations related to permitting compliance, solids handling, and expanding existing capacity. From there, Ovivo continued its momentum with open mic sessions on its new stormBLOX storm flow management system and the well-established AEROSTRIP fine disc bubble diffusers. The company claims the latter to have the highest proven energy efficiency and longest documented service life in the world, and showed in its presentation how 11-year old AEROSTRIP diffusers transfer more oxygen than brand new discs.

Starting with the pre-show bash and continuing right through the exhibition with a very interactive and educational presentation program, it is clear that Ovivo set out for New Orleans with a focus on customer satisfaction. While dinner at The Foundry did well to satisfy the palate, the knowledge and products on display at Ovivo’s booth provided much greater benefit, satisfying the need for wastewater solutions.
