Global Water Innovation Leaders Honored At Awards Ceremony Celebrating Isle Utilities 100th Technology Approval Group Workshop

The InterContinental Hotel Athenaeum in Athens, Greece was the venue for the first Global TAG Excellence Awards ceremony, a distinguished event to recognize innovation leadership in the global water industry. Hosted in association with the Global Water Intelligence annual Global Water Summit, the awards ceremony coincided with the landmark 100th TAG meeting delivered since the inception of the model 10 years ago. Event participants represented water and waste water utilities, agencies and technology companies from TAG groups in the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and Singapore.

The awards and winners on the night were:

  • Most Active TAG Member: Unity Water (Australia), in recognition for outstanding contribution and involvement in TAG.
  • Best Supporting Utility: Dwr Cymru Welsh Water (UK), in recognition for involvement and support for technology trials and horizon scans.
  • Most Disruptive Technology: Industrial Phycology, recognizing the technology that has the potential to be game-changing in the industry.
  • Most Developed Technology: LG Sonic, recognizing the technology with the greatest speed of development and commercial success since appearing at TAG.
  • Global Impact Award: Syrinix, recognizing the technology that has the greatest potential impact for utilities across the world.

The event was a great success and embodied the ethos of the Isle TAG approach - enabling networking, collaboration and recognition of commitment to water industry innovation between the most progressive water and waste water agencies across the world.

"Isle TAG is a truly Global forum with over 100 members representing 4 continents, and we felt it was important to bring recognition to the organizations leading the way in creating and embracing innovations that have the potential to change our industry and address pending global water challenges," said Bill Kelly, President of Isle Inc. USA.

"Utilities and water agencies that fit into the category of ‘innovation and new technology adoption leaders’ are likely members of a regional TAG group, and most new water technology innovations that have successfully commercialized in the municipal water market in recent times have likely passed through an Isle TAG forum at some point. TAG brings pace to the uptake of innovation into the industry, and we will continue to recognize and applaud the organizations who lead the way in this vitally important area."

Building on the success of the first Global TAG Excellence Awards, the event will be scheduled as an annual occurrence going forward with host locations rotating throughout the core TAG member regions.
