AdEdge Water Technologies (AdEdge) announced recently its intention to add Israeli company Rotec LTD (Rotec) Flow-Reversal Reverse Osmosis technology (FR-RO) to their core product offerings. Rotec developed the technology over the last decade. AdEdge and Rotec are entering into an exclusive licensing agreement to commercialize and distribute the FR-RO technology in North America.

The FR-RO utilizes standard non-proprietary equipment and can be implemented in all newly built municipal and industrial RO systems and can be retrofitted to existing RO systems. The FR-RO technology achieves recovery rates that are 10% - 20% higher than standard RO systems.

Rotec’s patented FR-RO technology is based on two principles: the reversal of water flow in the pressure vessels and block rotation. This technology, which results in higher recovery rates, addresses a recurring operational challenge of scaling and biofouling, typical to all conventional RO systems.

“Adding FR-RO to our portfolio is in line with our ongoing effort to focus on high recovery, low-waste, and environmentally-friendly solutions and join the global industry initiative to adopt circular water management practices and technologies: reduce, reuse, and recycle. Since reverse osmosis became a commodity, the proven FR-RO technology provides a refreshing, smart, and simple addition to the municipal and industrial desalination market” says Rich Cavagnaro, president and CEO of AdEdge.

“We are excited to partner with AdEdge to commercialize the FR-RO technology in North America,” says Dr. Noam Perlmuter, CEO of Rotec. “They bring the exceptional design, strong sales distribution, and manufacturing capabilities needed to bring this innovative technology in the marketplace successfully.”
