Much like death and taxes, reverse osmosis membrane fouling is inevitable. However, there are preventative measures that can be taken to minimize scaling and fouling that will ensure longer reverse osmosis membrane life.

Reverse Osmosis
Reverse osmosis (RO) involves forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane under high pressure, leaving the dissolved salts and other solutes behind on the surface of the membrane. RO offers advantages such as significant reduction in total dissolved solids (TDS) without regeneration chemicals, significant reduction in organics (TOC), and RO is a continuous purification process.
