Outsourced Water Treatment Provides Lower TOC And Higher Purity For Nuclear Power Plant White Paper
By Michael Reyes, Business Development Manager, Crown Solutions Co., LLC
Crown Solutions Co., LLC, a Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies company, was contacted by a Southeast Nuclear Utility to develop a competitive solution to design, build, install, operate, and maintain two new 400-gallon-per-minute (GPM) ultra high purity demineralized water plants to replace their internally operated, 25+ year old, demineralized water plant at two separate stations. As part of the upgrade and replacement, the client required higher quality demineralized water, specifically parts-per-trillion (ppt) concentration levels of metals, low Total Organic Carbon (TOC), and low dissolved oxygen levels. The client also required specialized contingency for mobile water to backup the redundant installed system. This paper will examine the design selection criteria, startup performance data, and special considerations necessary for the successful implementation of the process.
