ABB showcased multiple items at WEFTEC 2011, including the PSE Softstarter — showcased by Brian Griffin in this video — which features two-phase torque control designed to follow the characteristics of a centrifugal pump, thereby reducing or eliminating water hammer. We are also given a demonstration of the ACQ810, the first drive created by ABB specifically for the water and wastewater industry. Thomas Junger and Christopher Stamas describe how the ACQ810, together with the AC500 programmable logic controller, is designed as a complete, multi-pump control solution.
