American Water Awarded Two Military Contracts

American Water, the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company, announced recently that its Military Services Group has been awarded contracts for operation and maintenance of the water and the wastewater systems at Fort Belvoir, Virginia and Fort Meade, Maryland. According to the agreements, the awards are estimated at approximately $288M over a 50-year period for Fort Belvoir and $650M over a 50-year period for Fort Meade. Both are subject to price re-determination.

American Water's Military Services Group, which is reported as part of American Water's Contract Operations Group, also operates and maintains the water and/or wastewater assets at Fort A.P. Hill, Va., Fort Bragg, N.C., Fort Sill, Okla., Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Scott Air Force Base, Ill., Fort Rucker, Ala., Fort Hood, Texas and Fort Polk, La.

Fort Belvoir currently supports approximately 22,000 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Department of Defense civilians. Fort Belvoir is also home to more than 100 Army, Department of Defense and federal agencies, including three major Army command headquarters.

Fort Meade has approximately 39,000 members, composed of military, civilian and contractor personnel. It is the fourth largest workforce of Army installations in the continental United States.

The Military Services Group of American Water provides water and wastewater services to military installations across the country as part of the federal government's Utility Privatization Program.
