Accurate Oxygen Monitoring In MEG Injection Solutions For Closed-Loop Gas Condensate Pipelines

Source: Hach

Accurate monitoring of oxygen levels in Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) injection solutions is crucial for gas condensate pipelines in the oil and gas industry. Oxygen can cause corrosion issues and is expensive to remove using oxygen scavengers. Hach offers the ORBISPHERE K1100, an optical-based technology that meets the requirements for measuring dissolved oxygen in MEG circuits.

MEG is used as a hydrate inhibitor in natural gas pipelines. It is preferred over other inhibitors like methanol due to its non-flammability and ease of recycling. The presence of oxygen in closed-loop condensate pipelines is a concern, and accurate monitoring is important in the process of injecting and reclaiming MEG.
