WEFTEC 2016 Innovation Showcase Highlights Out-Of-The-Box Thinking, Ideas

WEF to unveil Water Reuse Roadmap Primer; popular Beer Smackdown returns

Innovation shifts our business-as-usual thinking to something different and better. Organized by the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and its innovation partners BlueTech Research and Imagine H2O, the fifth annual Innovation Showcase puts a spotlight on water sector innovation while providing access to the leaders and technologies that are making it happen.

The Innovation Pavilion, one component of the broader Showcase, will once again feature a host of companies offering cutting-edge products and services as well as a theater where presentations will occur throughout the week.

Relevant to utilities, investors, strategic partners, entrepreneurs, and technology providers, highlights of the programming will include:

  • An overview of WEF’s new Water Reuse Roadmap Primer
  • The newest information about stormwater modeling, advanced treatment processes and resource recovery.
  • An update on innovation in regulations and benchmarking water quality standards, trading and nutrients.
  • Startups pitching their ideas to investors in a format modeled after the popular television show Shark Tank.
  • The return of the Beer Smackdown, the popular tasting contest that features brews made from recycled water.
  • Recognition of true innovation where it counts at the Operator Ingenuity contest.
  • A briefing from a water cluster based in Puget Sound, along with information about the proposed Global Watershed Initiative.
  • An interactive energy/water session featuring representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) who will discuss its Better Buildings Wastewater Infrastructure Accelerator Initiative and other energy-related topics and programs. WEF and the DOE recently announced a new memorandum of understanding that supports the Accelerator initiative.
