WEFTEC Attendees Get Opportunity To Win iPad Air With Free Energy Review And Analysis

EDI booth visitors receive free aeration energy usage review; second copy serves as contest entry form

Environmental Dynamics International (EDI) will offer attendees of the WEFTEC 2015 conference in Chicago this September the chance to win an iPad Air in theirMatrix Plus iPad Air-Ation Contest, to be held at booth number 1067 during the exposition.

“We’re offering this promotion to introduce wastewater treatment plant operators, facility engineers and specifiers to our newest aeration system membrane, the Matrix Plus,” explains Tony Torres, EDI’s global marketing director. “This new patented membrane is one of the most exciting technological developments we’ve had in years, and we want to share that excitement with the industry.”

Typically, aeration diffuser membranes are coated with PTFE, a longevity-enhancing agent. This coating tends to flake off after a few years in service, leading to fouling of the membrane, which consists of a buildup of deposits on the membrane’s air pass-through slits. This buildup clogs the pass-through space considerably, requiring more energy to push the air through to create aeration bubbles. This means a significant reduction in aeration efficiency, as this added energy requires more power, reflected in higher electric bills.

EDI’s new Matrix Plus membrane is the only one on the market manufactured with the PTFE embedded into the membrane material, instead of being added as a coating on the outside. Several years of testing have revealed that this small but important difference results in a much slower rate of fouling, and therefore much lower energy bills.

EDI engineers have created a virtual plant scenario that helped them figure the cost savings to replacing existing coated membranes with Matrix Plus units. Over a span of 20 years, this virtual plant would realize a full $1.1M in energy savings.

The formula used in this equation has been embedded in a worksheet that EDI’s WEFTEC booth staff will be using to help show floor visitors plug in their own real numbers for existing plants or virtual numbers for planned projects. The results will show just what kind of savings these plants could realize by either replacing current coated membranes or by specifying Matrix Plus enhanced membranes as original equipment for aeration systems in new facilities.

These visitors will provide their contact information on their worksheet, and two copies will be made. One will be given the visitor, and the other will serve as an entry into the Matrix Plus Air-Ation Contest. The winner will be determined by a blind drawing of one of the entries at the end of the expo, and that person will be contacted to pick up the maxed-out iPad Air prize, pumped up for optimal efficiency and productivity—just like EDI Matrix Plus enhanced aeration membranes.
