Veolia Water Technologies, a global leader in water and wastewater treatment, hosted an educational event on June 7, 2017 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The purpose of the event was to support the food and beverage manufacturing community by increasing awareness related to water resource management and environmental compliance.

Water is a critical component to the success for food and beverage companies and is commonly used throughout the facility, including product processing, sanitation, protecting utility equipment, and as an ingredient. This creates several challenges to ensure consumer safety, operational efficiency, and environmental compliance. In response to these unique challenges, Veolia developed a comprehensive educational workshop that details how water can be best managed at food and beverage facilities—from understanding the chemistry of the incoming water, how water is used throughout the plant’s process, and how wastewater is treated prior to discharge.

Veolia specialists from the United States and Europe presented technical information and case studies about the following topics:

  • Incoming Water Quality and its Impact
  • Treatment Equipment to Ensure Consistent Water Quality & Safety
  • Extending the Life of Utility Equipment through Water Chemistry
  • Understanding Regulatory Compliance Standards
  • Wastewater Basics and Treatment Technology Options
  • Transforming Wastewater to Energy
  • Water Reuse - Creative and Practical Applications

“It’s Veolia’s goal that after attending the event, participants will return to their facilities with a fresh perspective on how water is being used in their operation,” says Mette Friis-Andersen, Marketing & Communications Director, North America. She adds, “Using the information and best practices presented, they can begin to implement initiatives that will ensure environmental compliance, improve operational efficiency, and increase the overall profitability for their company.”

These educational workshops are part of Veolia’s commitment to help industries rethink their relationship with water and reduce the overall environmental impact. Veolia Water Technologies holds similar educational events in the United States and Canada for professionals from the Oil & Gas, Mining, and Power markets.
