UV Technology Group Names New Leadership

The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) installed Dr. Kati Bell, the MWH Water Reuse Global Practice Leader, as the group’s new President at the biennial IUVA World Congress, February 1-3 in Vancouver, Canada. Oliver Lawal, President of Aquisense, was voted as President-elect; with Dr. Karl Linden, Professor of Environmental Engineering, University of Colorado Boulder, now assuming the role as Immediate Past President.

“I am delighted that our very successful World Congress in Vancouver served as the start of my new role,” says Dr. Bell. “With fantastic attendance and a large number of high quality technical presentations, we look forward to building on the strong momentum and support created by IUVA members for our group.” Dr. Bell managed the development of the 2012 EPA Guidelines for Water Reuse; and her technical project work on wastewater UV disinfection projects sums to over 2.0 billion gallons per day.

In addition, IUVA also announced that Gary Hunter of Black and Veatch is the new treasurer; and Ron Hofmann, University of Toronto, is now IUVA Secretary. IUVA also named Chip Blatchley, Purdue University as Co-VP for the Americas with Jamal Awad from GHD.

With over 300 members from more than 30 countries, the IUVA vision is to advance the science, engineering and applications of ultraviolet technologies to enhance the quality of human life and to protect the environment.
