Sonitec-Vortisand Unleashes Its Timely New Weapon In The Fight Against Legionella

Sonitec-Vortisand announces that it has launched the second generation of its unique method of controlling waterborne pathogens. The Vortisand filter combine with the innovative Microbial Control Media (MCM) technology typically reduces the amount of chemicals needed to treat the water in cooling towers by using sand coated with an EPA-approved, non-leaching and non-oxidizing chemical which disrupt the membrane of microorganisms in the water.

 The MCM technology, which will help combat outbreaks of Legionella (the bacteria which causes Legionnaire’s disease), is now included as standard on all Vortisand applied in cooling towers. This comes as governments and legislators work towards putting measures in place to ensure that buildings are safe from this type of threat. Sonitec-Vortisand claims that this type of technology is highly effective against bacteria, and contributes to fight Legionella and reduce biofouling. The Vortisand-MCM allows for the chemicals program to be more efficient and results in lower operating costs and a longer equipment life span.
