Sonitec-Vortisand Is Pre-Qualified For The Build In Canada Innovation Program With The H2F Vortisand

Sonitec-Vortisand is proud to announce that it has been pre-qualified for the Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP) offered by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) for the H2F Vortisand cross-flow microsand submicron filter.

Created to bolster innovation in Canada’s business sector, the BCIP helps companies bridge the pre-commercialization gap by procuring and testing late stage innovative goods and services within the federal government. Since 2010 over 1,200 proposals have been submitted and in the latest round, 72 proposals have been selected for pre-qualification.

Having submitted the H2F Vortisand cross-flow microsand submicron filtration system to the category of innovations for the environment, Sonitec-Vortisand was pre-selected to provide 1,200 gpm (272 m3/h) H2F Vortisand filters for use as side stream filtration on large cooling towers for government buildings. Submicron filtration for cooling towers increases energy efficiency by filtering small particles and bacteria that can lead to fouling, scaling and corrosion.

The newest addition to the Vortisand family, the H2F Vortisand, is engineered for higher flows while maintaining submicron filtration efficiency. Operating at a speed that is 5 times faster than traditional filters at 24gpm/ft2 (60m/h) while supplying a higher water quality than any other media filter - it’s now possible to achieve a submicron filtration surface that is 5 times smaller resulting in a highly compact footprint for large applications. No other filter can claim to achieve this level of efficiency in such a reduced space. The H2F Vortisand is capable of filtering up to 1,200 gpm of cooling tower water in a single stackable vessel.

Key Features:

  • Uses 50% less water during backwash when compared to multimedia filters.
  • In cooling system applications, up to 20% energy savings are generated by preventing the formation of sediment and insulating bio-film layers, leading to greater heat-exchanger efficiency.
  • Significant improvement of the chemical treatment’s effectiveness by reducing the total suspended solids (TSS) found in cooling water systems.
  • Fewer vessels means fewer parts required and lower maintenance costs.
  • Up to 85% less space required when compared to multimedia filters.

“We firmly believe in the improved competitive advantages of this exciting new product line. The first market reactions have simply been tremendous. With unsurpassed efficiency and speed, the new H2F Vortisand filter brings cross-flow microsand submicron filtration to a new level and opens up new perspectives on filtration efficiency”, said Marco Bosisio, Sonitec-Vortisand General Manager.

About Sonitec-Vortisand Inc.
Sonitec-Vortisand Inc. designs & manufactures unique cross-flow microsand submicron filtration systems for industrial water polishing. As a worldwide leader in the field of high efficiency cross-flow microsand filtration, Sonitec-Vortisand exports 85% of its production outside of Canada. The Vortisand filter system is an automatic backwashable microsand filter combining cross-flow dynamics and microsand filtration. Vortisand achieves submicron filtration at a high rate while using 50% less water for backwash compared to traditional sand filters. Vortisand filters are widely used for side stream filtration for cooling towers, district cooling chilled water, pre-treatment for reverse osmosis, water reuse and other specialized water polishing applications.
