Remote Monitoring Provides Water Resilience During Crisis

Managing three drinking water treatment facilities, multiple pump stations, more than 350 miles of pipelines, and a wastewater treatment facility is challenging even in normal conditions for a small city where agriculture is an economic driver and water demand can exceed 22 MGD.

Wildfires that ripped through this western city several years ago, however, put unprecedented pressure on municipal water operations. Not only was the utility tapped to provide a massive amount of water to fight the fires, it needed to simultaneously maintain clean drinking water service to homes and businesses while also ensuring safe wastewater treatment.
