Recipients Of The 2018 Singapore International Water Week Scholarship Announced

Six utility leaders have received scholarships to attend Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) so they can help break down international barriers, assist with the acceleration of technology transfer, and create an understanding of innovative policy options to advance resource recovery across the water sector.

The scholarships were provided by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies, Water Environment Federation, and The Water Research Foundation, in partnership with SIWW, a biennial event that showcases best practices, innovative technologies, and business opportunities in the global water sector.

Recipients of the 2018 scholarships are:

  • Adel Hagekhalil, Assistant Director, City of Los Angeles (Calif.) – LA Sanitation
  • Kishia Powell, Commissioner, City of Atlanta (Ga.) Department of Watershed Management, Ga.
  • Kathryn Sorensen, Director, Phoenix (Ariz.) Water Services
  • Yvonne W. Forrest, Director Houston Water, Houston Public Works, City of Houston, Texas
  • Andrew Williams, Utility Director, Clay Township (Ind.) Regional Waste District
  • Robert Angelotti, Deputy Executive Director, Technical Services, Upper Occoquan (Va.) Service Authority

These recipients were chosen based on their high-level positions within the water sector; interest in smart water systems, water reuse, advanced treatment technology, and integrated urban water management; and intent to utilize the experience at SIWW to benefit their utility and the U.S. water sector in general.

Scheduled for July 8-12, SIWW will bring together international water leaders and practitioners to share and co-create innovative solutions that reinforce global integration of sustainable water management strategies with urban planning processes.
