Northern Canadian Mine Hires Saltworks To Build Two Zero Liquid Discharge Plants

Saltworks Technologies to deliver two full-scale industrial water treatment systems to a precious metals mine in the Canadian North.

Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) - Saltworks Technologies has been selected to build and deliver two full-scale zero liquid discharge (ZLD) water treatment systems for a Northern Canadian mine. The water treatment systems will be used to treat mine water to recover freshwater and produce solid salts.

A year-long pilot project was conducted and demonstrated that the SaltMaker Evaporator Crystallizer could treat the challenging mine water, meet strict discharge regulations in the Arctic, and the client’s goals for solid salt production. The produced salts can be reused at the mine to de-ice mining shafts.

The first of two SaltMaker plants is currently being built in Saltworks’ production facility in Richmond, BC. The modular plant will be rapidly delivered as ISO shipping container blocks early this summer. The design of the plant facilitates future expansion to increase processing capacity, if required.

The energy efficient evaporator crystallizer system can use on-site waste heat to drive its operations towards zero liquid discharge. In addition, its lower operating temperatures and non-corroding composite construction allow safe and reliable operation.
