Nitrate Removal Systems

Our patented multi-bed water treatment systems for nitrate removal are designed for well-head installation, so they have a very small footprint. They have capacities ranging from 300 to 6,000 gpm plus. Our waste rates are generally over 90% less than comparable conventional fi xed bed ion-exchange plants, and range from 0.20% to 0.50%. Many customers operate multiple Envirogen Technologies systems, including six in the City of Salinas for California Water Service Company.

Nitrate contamination has caused more than 500 wells to be taken out of service in California alone over the last 5 years, and more than 10,000 wells in the U.S. contain high levels of nitrate. Nitrate levels in groundwater always increase and never decrease. That's why more water agencies are turning to Envirogen Technologies to meet drinking water standards and community needs.

What is Nitrate?
Nitrate leeches into the groundwater from septic systems and the use of many common agricultural fertilizers. It has been linked to a variety of cancers, diseases, and "blue baby syndrome."
