New Trends And Best Presentation Award Highlight September Chicago Conference

According to event organizers, a preview of papers submitted for Plastic Pipes XVII (PPXVII) points to presentations focused on significant trends and ideas in the field of plastic pipe technology. In support of that, and for the first time, there will be an award for the Best Presentation. Nominations will be judged from the 130 presentations delivered during the event at Chicago’s Swissôtel, September 22 - 24, 2014.

“Plastic Pipes XVII is all about the latest ideas, use and research in plastic pipe networks and the valuable human networking that it provides," stated Stephen Boros, chairman of the PPXVII organizing committee. "The history of plastic pipes is founded on the versatility and innovation that plastics provide and the ability to take that potential to create long-term solutions. With our new award, we will recognize the inspiration that turns raw material into plastic piping systems and the presentation skills that communicate it effectively."

Global demand for plastic pipe systems is projected to rise 8.5 percent annually during the next three years. In North America, the shale energy boom has greatly expanded the use of plastic piping in the energy sector, and replacement of antiquated pipe networks by more durable and efficient plastic pipe materials using trenchless technology has become a major trend in all regions.

“Our conference will clearly reflect an increasing level of sophistication in the design, manufacture and use of plastic pipe systems in these markets," Boros said. "All parts of the world will be represented showing what they are doing with plastic piping systems. And, as a measure of its interest, China will deliver as many as 20 of these presentations.”

The main program will embrace technical and marketing issues relating to the design and development, testing, installation and operation of plastic pipe systems. Papers will offer new solutions to technical and engineering issues using plastic pipe systems and identify market and business opportunities for further growth in the use of plastic pipes worldwide.

Record Attendance Projected
Hosting a record 550 participants from more than 40 countries, Plastic Pipes XVII is the largest conference and exhibition of its kind. “Our industry is an innovative and exciting partnership of technology and business,” Boros stated. “Delegates are drawn from an international community of plastic pipe and fittings producers, users and installers. Representatives from major energy, water, telecom and sewer utility companies will attend alongside those from the building sector. Also present will be industry consultants, leading technicians and engineers, suppliers of raw materials and additives as well as extrusion equipment manufacturers.”
