Introduction Of ARPA-H2O Legislation Will Advance Clean Water Research And Innovation, Says NACWA

Statement from NACWA CEO Encourages Cooperation and Investment as Bipartisan Legislation Advances

Bipartisan legislation was introduced in the House of Representatives this past Friday to establish and fund a federal Advanced Research Projects Agency – Water to provide funding assistance to drinking water and clean water systems, private sector entities, academic research institutions, and nonprofit organizations that are developing innovative and technologically advanced methods to improve the treatment, monitoring, delivery, affordability and safety of drinking water and clean water.

Adam Krantz, NACWA’s Chief Executive Officer, issued the following statement:

“On behalf of public clean water utilities around the country I applaud Representatives John Katko and Dan Kildee for advancing this landmark legislation. The bipartisan introduction of ARPA-H2O marks Congress’s recognition that clean water is an essential part of America’s infrastructure system. I am certain that the technological innovations and cutting-edge partnerships that will form once this legislation is passed into law will help revolutionize how we think about our most fundamental natural resource - water. ARPA-H2O will help further advance the move toward clean water agencies becoming smart utilities that embrace the full array of sustainable, resource recovery initiatives.”

NACWA thanks Representatives John Katko and Dan Kildee for championing this legislation and looks forward to continuing its work with Congress to pass this bipartisan legislation.
