IDA Is Pleased To Announce The Desalination Week In Denia (Spain)

The “Desalination Week” will be held in Denia (Spain) between November 25 and 29. It is an event organized by Aqualia in collaboration with the European Consortium MIDES. The program is full of activities, and the most advanced desalination systems will be presented and analyzed. International experts from different universities, research centers, companies and Administration will meet to share their experiences around the current desalination systems used worldwide. The most innovative approaches to obtain fresh water with low energy consumption and environmental impact will be discussed.

Fermin Jimenez, from the Ministry for Ecological Transition (MITECO), will be one of the speakers who will participate in the “Desalination Week”. Representatives from the International Desalination Association (IDA) will also participate, as Victor Monsalvo, Co-Chair of the R&D Committee at IDA. Helena Montero, technician of the Mancomunidad de los Canales del Taibilla, will present R&D strategies about sustainable desalination. Juan D. Martorell, Head of Desalination in Ibiza and Formentera at the Balearic Water Agency, will also present strategies for a successful implementation of desalination in islands.

Within the framework of this event, Aqualia will inaugurate on Wednesday November 27 the “Desalination Innovation Center”, a space where R&D activities are centralized to develop and test innovative sustainable desalination solutions. The center will be inaugurated by the mayor of Denia, Vicente Grimalt. This Center covers the entire cycle of the desalination process, and has specific facilities, such as a control center and a laboratory equipped for sample analysis and process monitoring.

Recent developments achieved by the European consortium MIDES (www.midesh2020.eu) and other solutions on sustainable desalination will be presented during the "Desalination Innovation School ". During this two days event students and water professionals will share experiences and will analyze novel low energy and sustainable desalination solutions.
