Globally, flooding is the most common and costliest of natural disasters. In the U.S., that has translated into record numbers of storms making landfall with effects reaching far beyond coastal regions, and the problem is only going to get worse. To help communities address the growing risk, the U.S. EPA has published guidance for water utilities to boost their flood resilience. UV disinfection systems that are designed to remain underwater for extended periods contribute significantly to this goal.
