Highland Tank's Waste Water Treatment Division again takes the lead in providing solutions to meet the increasingly stringent Federal, State and local Sewer Pretreatment Regulations. The latest challenge was to design a wastewater treatment system for a very well respect food processing facility in Omaha, NE. Henningsen Foods has over 100 years of food processing experience in specialty eggs, specialty dehydrated meats, poultry and seafood products. Henningsen Foods needed to expand production and come into compliance with the local and state mandated 100ppm effluent quality for fats, oils and grease.

Henningsen Foods sought a solution to its grease/oil issue under increasing pressure from the local municipality for noncompliance. The antiquated concrete holding tanks Henningsen Foods relied on for grease/oil collection were no match for the daily loading of solids and FOG, free floating and emulsified. Certain food production runs at the plant generate 50% and sometimes 70% fat laden waste. Standard daily cleaning operations produced a flow rate of 9,000 gallons.
