Article: Biological Membrane Treatment Of Waste-Water
With the development of membrane separation technologies, there is increasing use of membranes as part of the conventional biological process, and as an engineering/application alternative to granular deep filtration based tertiary treatment. GES, which specializes in water and waste-water treatment, has designed, implemented, and successfully operates an innovative waste-water treatment facility in Kibbutz Ayalon using MBR (Membrane Bio Reactor) technology.

Most of the waste-water treatment facilities in Israel include a biological treatment phase using a variety of processes – from oxidation membranes, and through to conventional activated sludge facilities. The reclaimed water produced in these facilities is characterized by a wide variation of qualities and are liable not to be suitable for unlimited usage.
