Activated Carbons As A Solution To Emerging Pollutants

The presence of active pharmaceutical ingredients, radio-opaque substances, and endocrine-disrupting chemicals in raw water sources has caused concern with regards to their concentration level in drinking water. A study for the removal of these micro-pollutants was recently conducted at a full-scale water production plant in southern Germany. This technical bulletin presents the study results and explores the role of activated carbons in the efficient removal of these substances from water.
