Severn Trent Services has introduced the MicroDynamics® microwave UV technology. The MicroDynamics UV technology is revolutionary in that microwaves are used to generate monochromatic UV light from electrodeless lamps. The last major development in UV technology prior to the introduction of microwave UV technology was in the 1990s, when low pressure amalgam and medium pressure lamps were introduced.
MicroDynamics systems use traditional UV lamps which are electrodeless, there are no electrical connections to fail, corrode or leak, which dramatically increases system efficiency and bulb life when compared to traditional UV lamps.
MicroDynamics systems feature no electrical connections in the water. This leads to simple maintenance requirements and increased safety. In addition, the system does not require the lamps to be submerged in the channel – lamps can operate in air – thus reducing concerns regarding precise water level control. The MicroDynamics systems operate with unlimited start/stop of the system with no degradation of UVC output or UV lamp.
The MicroDynamics® OCS 660 open channel ultraviolet (UV) system offers efficient and effective disinfection of secondary and tertiary wastewater effluent. Unique features of the revolutionary microwave UV technology include:
