The Comput-OX 244SC Respirometer measures oxygen demand in water or soil samples. Comput-OX 244SC tests can be used to monitor the effect of industrial waste on a treatment plant, predict compliance with discharge permit limits for BOD and toxicity, and monitor the activated sludge process to increase treatment plant efficiency. The Comput-OX 244SC is also ideal for biodegradation and bioremediation studies.

How it Works:
The Comput-OX 244SC respirometer monitors biochemical oxygen demand in a closed reactor. As respiration takes place, oxygen is depleted and carbon dioxide is released at the same rate. Simultaneously, this carbon dioxide is removed from the reactor atmosphere using a strong base as a trap. As a result, the pressure in the reactor drops. The Comput-OX 244SC system detects this drop in pressure and delivers pure oxygen to the reactor in measured increments. The system records the mass volume of oxygen and the time it was delivered to generate both a numeric and graphic display for each test.
