Recently the water treatment community has been caught up in the race to apply increasingly sophisticated water treatment technology for the production of drinking water. Some of these technologies include the use of high rate processes, high and low pressure membrane systems, etc. They are sometimes used to directly replace conventional water treatment systems. As time goes on, designers, operators and owners are becoming familiar with some of the drawbacks to these sophisticated systems.
