YSI Introduces Three New Aquaculture And Aquatic Life Support Products

Expansion Modules Expand Capabilities and Provide Tighter Monitoring and Control

YSI, a Xylem brand, introduces three new expansion modules for its highly acclaimed Aquaculture & Aquatic Life Support Monitoring & Control product line. The expansion modules — IOEM-8, IOEM-4, and REM-4 — allow YSI customers to interface with more devices and increase their control capability when connected to a YSI 5200A, 5400 and/or 5500D monitor.

“We want to give our customers cost-effective products and services that make their job easier and improve the efficiency of their facilities,” says YSI Product Manager Laura St. Pierre. “With YSI’s new IOEMs (Input Output Expansion Module), they’ll gain the ability to configure up to 8 inputs/outputs. The inputs allow them to integrate additional sensors or output from other devices. The outputs can be configured to control pumps, UV systems, analog valves, or send data to SCADA or PLC systems.”

St. Pierre adds, “The new REM (Relay Expansion Module) adds relays where needed to control feeders, lighting, heaters, alarming, and more.” With these new products, YSI’s primary goal is to help aquatic facility managers ensure healthy livestock and maximize profits with tighter control of water quality and system parameters.

The IOEM-8, IOEM-4, and REM-4 product features are extensive and include:

IOEM

• 4 or 8 user-configurable channels as inputs or outputs
• Optically isolated to eliminate electrical interferences and ground loops
• When configured as outputs (4-20 mA), either set point or PID control can be used
• 4-20 mA outputs can interface to a SCADA or PLC system
• Inputs can be used for temperature, analog, or digital

REM

• REM: 4 user-configurable output relays

IOEM & REM

• Plug-and-play modules are easy to install, set up, and maintain (no need to hire programmers or engineers)
• NEMA 4X (IP-66 rated)
• AC and DC power (battery back-up if used with AC power)
• 2-year warranty
