Xylem Unveils High Precision Electromagnetic Flow Meter For Wastewater Plants

Xylem, a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, has launched an electromagnetic flow meter under its Flygt brand that is highly accurate, even with slow flows, easy to operate and flexible. Flygt MagFlux EMF 801 is the latest addition to Xylem’s portfolio of monitoring and control (M&C) solutions, enabling operators to gain an accurate understanding of the wastewater flow. The solution will be showcased by the company during the IFAT trade show in Munich, Germany, May 5-9, Hall A6 booth 439.

Krister Björnsson, product manager at Xylem said, “It is important that operators have an accurate understanding of their facility’s rate of wastewater flow and any overflow data. It is important to ‘know your flow’ and have an accurate understanding of it as this information has a direct impact on the running costs of an operation as well as being required by authorities. Flygt MagFlux delivers a very accurate overview of this information in a way that is very user friendly.”

Flygt MagFlux EMF 801 delivers extremely accurate flow readings of 0.25 percent over the full range from 0.2 meters per second to 10 meters per second (0.6 feet per second to 30 feet per second). It achieves this accuracy even during flows as low as 0.2 meters per second / 0.6 feet per second in velocity. Automatic electrode cleaning ensures that this precision is delivered consistently as well as minimising the amount of maintenance required.

MagFlux is very simple to operate, featuring a display menu that includes up to five lines of text as well as a graphical display which can give an overview of the wastewater flow. The display screen provides the operator with comprehensive information updates and can include an overview of flow rates over time. This display can be viewed in 26 languages. Each display unit can show up to four MagFlux and can be situated up to 1,000 meters (3,300 feet) from the sensors.

MagFlux is ready to operate by simply entering a unique calibration code and can be installed in multiple configurations. It is capable of withstanding submersion down to 10 meters /30 feet. It can measure flow in one or both directions and is available in a range of sizes DN 15 (1/2’’) to DN 1200 (48’’).

The launch of Flygt MagFlux coincides with the introduction of Xylem’s new marketing communications campaign, ‘Even Better Together’. This global campaign aims to highlight how Xylem’s monitoring and control technologies have been designed specifically for water and wastewater facilities and complement the company’s market leading water and wastewater pump and treatment solutions.
