Reliable and efficient technologies are necessary for the treatment of municipal wastewater. Of the available technologies, the oxidation ditch process is well known for stable operation and reliable effluent quality.
Energy efficient aeration and mixing are critical to the biological treatment process to properly maintain healthy biomass necessary to achieve oxidation, nitrogen and phosphorus removal. Xylem’s Sanitaire® Bioloop® oxidation ditch is ideally suited to meet this task. Sanitaire fine bubble diffused aeration delivering 6.0 – 8.0 lb O2/hp-hr is over 100% more efficient than mechanical aerators which deliver 2.5 - 3.5 lb O2/hp-hr. Combining Sanitaire aeration with extensive mixing knowledge using Xylem’s Flygt mixers, the Sanitaire® Bioloop® oxidation ditch technology becomes an operationally efficient reality.
Employing a process solution approach, Bioloop process typically includes aeration, submersible mixers, blowers, monitoring and process control systems with sludge age control, all designed to provide a flexible yet simple to operate fashion. Bioloop also can be designed to accommodate stringent nutrient removal regulations for nitrogen and phosphorus which are threatening the nation’s waterways.
