Xylem To Demonstrate Smart Water Management For Offshore Oil & Gas Operations At OTC, Houston

Xylem Inc. , a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, will showcase its extensive water management capabilities at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), 2-5 May, in Houston, Texas. Xylem will demonstrate how by employing smart water management techniques and effective HSE practices, offshore operators can actually reduce costs. The event will involve more than 90,000 professionals from 130 countries exchanging ideas to advance scientific and technical knowledge for offshore operations.

“Oil and gas production is increasingly being driven towards more challenging offshore environments,”said Neil Trenaman, Director, Ocean and Coastal, Xylem. “This shift means even greater focus should be given to health, safety and environmental (HSE) concerns. Increased regulatory scrutiny and ever stricter legislation also means that HSE compliance is a crucial aspect of any offshore operation. The good news is that by implementing smart water management techniques and effective HSE practices, offshore operators can actually reduce costs and positively impact their bottom line. Technology can greatly improve HSE practices, and when used in conjunction with appropriate training, organizational guidelines, and effective leadership, technology can exponentially decrease HSE related incidents.”

Xylem has extensive expertise in offshore water management, including water transport, treatment and analytics as well as HSE and has worked with a number of high profile operators including the Chinese National Offshore Oil Corporation and Haliburton in Norway.

Xylem acquired Tideland Signal Corporation, a privately owned company specializing in analytics solutions in the coastal and ocean management sectors, in February this year. Tideland’s products, services, and long-standing customer relationships has extended Xylem’s reach within the ocean and coastal market, and provides Xylem with scale in the environmental monitoring systems business.

As a company with expertise across the entire water spectrum Xylem can support offshore oil and gas operators with all of their water management challenges from pumping, treating and analyzing water, to devising ballast water systems, drinking water for employees as well as all water safety aspects of an offshore operation. Xylem will exhibit a selection of its AC Fire, Aanderaa, Godwin, Flygt and Sontek branded technologies and solutions, from its extensive portfolio specifically designed for the offshore oil and gas sector, at the event. Included in its display of offshore water management solutions at the OTC will be Xylem’s Flygt brand of high efficiency submersible mixers and agitators for drilling, mud mixing and agitating. Flygt mixers eliminate downtime by being raised in a matter of minutes without having to empty the tank, taking up less space and being very simple to install. Xylem’s Flygt brand offers the market’s widest range of industrial submersible mixers and agitators.
