Wigen To Provide Universal Ultrafiltration Rack System For City Of Santa Barbara

Wigen Water Technologies will provide the first large scale Universal Ultrafiltration Skid system in North America for the City of Santa Barbara’s El Estero Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) - Universal Ultrafiltration (UF) system for the City of Santa Barbara’s El Estero Wastewater Treatment Plant. This system shall produce high quality recycled water for non-potable applications, reducing demand on the city’s drinking water supplies. Design engineer CDM Smith specified the Universal Rack system to be able to use three different MF or UF modules which will allow the city to competitively bid replacement modules in the future, rather than be locked into one supplier for the life of the treatment plant. While there has been much interest in the Universal Rack concept in the past few years, this is the first large scale system to be built in North America.

“With our experience in having built UF systems using modules from different manufacturers, and the launch of our Spectrum SeriesTM Universal UF Rack last year that accommodates at least five of the UF modules that we have access to, we are excited to be able to provide this membrane system for the City of Santa Barbara” said Jeff Wigen, President of Wigen Water Technologies. “The Spectrum SeriesTM Universal UF Rack is designed so that spool pieces can be interchanged on the header system to accommodate different size membrane modules, varying port locations and connection sizes. The price of these Universal UF Racks is very competitive with traditional proprietary MF/UF Systems” said Wigen.

The City of Santa Barbara’s Universal UF Racks will be supplied with Dow IntegraFlo UF modules but are designed to also accommodate Toray and Hydranautics modules. The general contractor for the project is Schock Contracting Corporation and the plant is scheduled to start up in the summer of 2015.
