The Highly Successful Model WQA Water Moving Aeration System At WEFTEC 2012
The Reliant Water Technologies Model WQA Water Moving Aerator is specifically designed to operate in waste lagoons to provide aeration and mixing with a minimum of energy. A single unit will move the water within a 2 to 5 acre area (depends on lagoon depth), providing impressive savings in aeration energy use. The key element to the design is that the Model WQA utilizes the weight of moving water to break up the sludge that has developed into mounds on the lagoon bottom. This slow moving fluid sludge mass, which stays on the bottom, allows for the ammonia and nitrogen components trapped in the sludge to rise and naturally dissipate through oxidation. The continuous mixing effect of the water also causes a natural “vacuum” for algae on the surface, drawing it to the bottom where it dies and degrades.
The Model WQA utilizes both coarse and fine bubble diffusion technologies. Using a total of only 4 horsepower of energy, it moves over 9 million gallons of water per day through itself, and diffuses over 15 pounds of oxygen per hour into the water. The aeration component of the Model WQA can run continuously or periodically by manual or timer activation, or by automated dissolved oxygen monitors if desired. There is an ‘Ice Option’ for lagoons that freeze during the winter. This option allows for this unique water moving aerator to operate in frozen lagoons throughout the winter without the concern of ice crushing damage.
The Model WQA is made of HDPE, aluminum and stainless steel, with an all stainless steel and HDPE model available. The anodized industrial blowers are warranted for 3 years. The only maintenance requirement for the Model WQA is the annual cleaning of two stainless steel blower filters.
