Lee County, Florida has a population of over 620,000 with 600 lift stations and water wells used to manage its water needs. Motorola MOSCAD RTUs were used to operate 476 lift stations but within five years the MOSCAD system working on the county trunk radio system would no longer be supported when the change was made from analog to digital radios. The project required:
1. Replacement of the MOSCAD RTU control panels over four years without long-term description in system communications;
2. Reliable, efficient data transmission via cellular communication network with no data loss in the event of power outages;
3. Continued, guaranteed support for the new installation.
