Registration Is Now Open For Great Water Cities: Collaborating For A Resilient Future

Experts will meet in New Orleans, July 21-22 to share perspectives, strategies for progressive, adaptable water management

Registration is now open for the next installment of the Water Environment Federation’s (WEF) Great Water Cities dialogue series. Great Water Cities: Collaborating for a Resilient Future, organized with Greater New Orleans, Inc. and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, will be held July 21-22 at the Tulane University Lavin-Bernick Center.

In many parts of the world, pressures from population growth, climate change and urbanization are straining existing water systems and resources, sometimes beyond capacity. In order to sufficiently meet current and future water demands, water managers and civil leaders from communities of all sizes are being forced to radically rethink water management by looking for smarter and more progressive approaches that will increase resiliency, enhance livability and conserve resources.

The 2015 summit will build upon last year’s meeting in Chicago, where a diverse group of global leaders gathered to examine and discuss their experiences—specifically where leading-edge utilities are focusing their resources and efforts—in hopes of changing the agenda for other communities facing similar water challenges.

Sponsored by Greeley and Hansen, this year’s event will focus on topics related to collaboration; managing water in extreme conditions; workforce development and economics; and innovation and investment. Attendees are invited to arrive in New Orleans on July 21 for an afternoon tour of key water facilities, followed by a welcome reception. The formal programming will begin the following day and will include expert panel discussions, structured networking sessions, a luncheon, and peer-to-peer connections.
