Record Jacking Pipe Installed In Denver

120-inch HOBAS Jacking Pipe

The City and County of Denver is installing a new storm sewer system in the Curtis Park neighborhood that runs from the South Platte River, down 33rd Street to Downing and on to Lafayette. This $6M federally funded project is designed to improve the drainage conditions during a five year storm event and protect residents and businesses in the area. HOBAS Pipe USA has supplied 400 feet of 120-inch CCFRPM jacking pipe to Denver for a portion of the 33rd Street Outfall Project. At a 120-inch diameter, this is the largest fiberglass jacking pipe made in the USA.

The City and County of Denver selected CCFRPM for the crossings encroached during this project and it will serve as the casing and carrier pipe for these tunnel crossings. A tunneling method will be used for the pipe installation which will pass beneath the five existing railroad tracks (Union Pacific Rail Road) and two sets of future Denver Regional Transportation District Commuter Rail Tracks right-of-way along with Brighton Boulevard. High strength pipes were necessary to be able to withstand the heavy rail and highway loads (E-80 RR and HS-20). The depth will range from 18 to 24 feet below the existing ground surface. Installation contractor is BT Construction of Henderson, CO.
